Pak Loh Chiu Chow Restaurant (Dai Siu)
About This Spot
Stepping into Pak Loh Chiu Chow Restaurant (Dai Siu) feels like entering a quietly cherished corner of Causeway Bay, where the bustling city fades into a more intimate, deliberate rhythm. Nestled within the tranquil setting of Phoenix Apartments, this Cantonese gem offers a welcoming embrace that balances tradition with a subtle modern touch. Though the space is modest, it never feels cramped; the light is soft and clean, fostering a calm mood that invites you to slow down and settle in.
The pace here is unhurried but attentive, as staff move with a mindful ease, making room for genuine moments among diners. Families, friends, and occasional business groups converge in the cozy private rooms or at the main dining area, finding both privacy and a communal warmth. It’s a place where conversation flows as naturally as the tea, and where each visit carries a hint of quiet celebration.
The experience at Pak Loh is as much about discovering a culinary heritage as it is about savoring a meal. Traditional Chiu Chow flavors weave through the air — from the subtle brine of freshly made dim sum to the delicate, slow-cooked richness of soups and stews, every bite offers a connection to the region’s coastal roots. There is a comforting familiarity here, yet with enough nuance to surprise even those acquainted with Cantonese cuisine. The kitchen’s care is evident in dishes that arrive thoughtfully composed, often coaxing diners into shared plates that encourage communal enjoyment and exchange.
It’s this blend of authenticity and undistracted hospitality that makes Pak Loh more than just a restaurant — it is a space where memories are made and revisited. Whether it’s a reunion dinner in one of the private rooms or a casual gathering over meticulously prepared seafood and traditional treats, this spot invites you to discover a part of Hong Kong’s rich food story in a setting that feels quietly special, away from the city’s frantic pace.

Food was great! Good quality of Chinese / Chiu Chow food but it’s more expensive than average standard. Service was good!

Two years ago I came with a Hong Kong friend and it was such a memorable dinner. Today I found the same restaurant renovated and the food still so good. Worth flying here just to eat. All the dishes recommended by the manager. I will keep coming here every time I come to Hong Kong. Chiu Chow food so gourmet and scrumptious

A great place for reunion dinner with private rooms available. The chiuchow dishes are an absolute divine. Services are excellent, with good decor. We have a wonderful night, will recommend highly to diners who like chiuchow food.

First time coming to this location and I think it's better than the one at Times Square. The quality of the food taste better and portion size is bigger as well. Bright and clean atmosphere. Service was quick and attentive. There are 3 private rooms for large parties. Even though the place is much smaller than the one at Times Square, it is not stuffy at all. Very cool as the restaurant is surrounded by many portable air condition (on the wall). It's better to make a reservation, as it was almost packed before 7pm.

Honestly surprised at how good the food was and how good the service was despite how busy it was. Every table was full but there was no hurrying our big group of 10 people to leave, no time limits. Very accommodating to the kids we had and understanding and friendly staff. Was noisy but not oppressively so, able to have good conversations around the table. The food was actually much better than I expected - no weak dishes and the highlights were the soy marinated goose, shredded roast chicken with nuts and berries, deep fried taro, satay beef vermicelli, stuffed fish maw with cabbage. Excellent experience and I would be happy to return in a heartbeat.

This long established Chiu Chow style restaurant was famous for its food quality. The range of cuisine was wide from common dishes to expensive ones. Service was satisfactory and there was room for improvement. The price was on the high side. Set meals were offered. The environment could be better because a small flying insect was found when I took the seat. Another restaurant under the same name was located nearby but patrons had to queue for lift service. Ground floor was more convenient.
